Chitrakala Academy of Imphan Educational and Charitable Trust (Regd.) of Bangalore, started in the year 1994, was inaugurated by Sri Baruguru Ramachandrappa, writer, late Sri P.R. Thippe Swamy, senior artist and Ex-Chairman of Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy, Bengaluru and late Sri R.M. Hadpad, Nadoja awardist and Ex-Chairman of Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy, Bangalore.

The Academy was started with an intention to spread the importance and to bring awareness of art among students and public at large and to make them become aware of society through art. The Academy has so far conducted several drawing and painting competitions and summer camps.

The academy conducts regular drawing classes for school/college students, adults etc. and also train young artists. The academy has been successful in conducting painting exhibitions of young artists.

Chitrakala Academy Summer Camp is conducted every year during April, May and June for all categories like school/college students, housewives etc. Ladies especially come here to learn commercial painting techniques like fabric, charcoal and similar other painting techniques. The academy caters for working employees too, who usually take some time from their daily work and spend their time here to hone their art skills.

Aim of Chitrakala Academy

Chitrakala Academy Bangalore (CAB) promotes art activities by creating awareness in the field of art among the people. It also honors artists by recognizing and providing an opportunity to exhibit their creative skills.

CAB aims to strengthen art groups and donor community in order to give back to the society the enhanced richness and diversity of art.

CAB is constantly trying to make an everlasting contribution to art through various art forms.

CAB also plays a role in the field of education by conducting hobby classes, workshops, competitions and exhibitions. Every year, the summer camps are conducted between April and June for people irrespective of age groups. CAB also provides tutorials for commercial purposes like fabric, charcoal and other forms of paintings.

CAB is a non-profit making, non- political body, which stands for promoting art and culture throughout the country.
